Basic Waffle Batter

Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 cups milk (more or less)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, egg yolks, vegetable oil, sugar, butter and milk. Whisk everything together to create a batter. If need add additional milk to get the consistency you need.
- Whisk the egg whites to medium peaks and fold into the batter.
- Use as directed by your waffle iron.
Variations:
Use the same recipe above, simply add the following ingredients for variations:
Cheddar Cheese Waffles
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Add to the batter and mix in.
Thyme and Basil Waffles
- 1 tbsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp dried basil
- Add to the batter and mix in.
Apple Ginger Waffles
- 1/2 cup apple sauce
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup finely chopped apples
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Add to the batter and mix in.
