“Beauty and the Feast” Cookbook Review

Throughout my career I have collected and compiled a large library of culinary reference books.  I love reading cookbooks and enjoy the occasional gems I happen upon.  Many months ago Wilma Gelderblom approached me regarding a cookbook that would reflect the many culturally diverse fans of the CW/CBS hit show “Beauty and the Beast.”  I was thrilled with the opportunity and began offering recipes and photos for this project.  Not only was the cookbook meant to bring the culturally diverse fans of the show “Beauty and the Beast” together but to help fight juvenile diabetes (JDRF), with the proceeds from the book going to the JDRF Foundation.

Many e-mail exchanges occurred through the following months for recipes and photos for the cookbook project. It was a wonderful experience getting to know the hard working and dedicated people that were realizing this massive project.  To say the least, I was thrilled when the book was finally finished and anxiously awaited a copy of it.

When I received the cookbook, I sat down at my kitchen table with a piece of applesauce cake I had made and a cup of chamomile tea.  I began thumbing through the book and marveled at the hundreds of hours of work that had gone into it.  Through the years I have noticed that there are many cookbooks that are more about the production than the actually recipes.  Thankfully, the “Beauty and the Feast” cookbook is about both the production and the recipes.  While thumbing through the pages I began to feel a warm and loving appreciation for the many people from all over the world who selflessly gave their time and talents to the books creation.  I continued reading through the book, recipe after recipe (many of which are printed not only in the original language of the contributing person but translated into English), excited about new flavors to try and the overwhelming appreciation for my culinary piers from all aspects of life.

The “Beauty and the Feast” cookbook will be a crowning jewel in any culinary library.  Not only does in contain wonderful home and “time” approved recipes from all over the world, it represents the love and willingness to create a better world through caring, sharing and selflessness.  I’m proud to have been a small part in this wonderful new cookbook, “Beauty and the Feast.”  Be sure to get a copy of the book for yourself and start enjoying the time tested recipes from the amazing fans of the hit show, “Beauty and the Beast.”

I’ve included below the information needed to get your copy of “Beauty and the Feast.”  For more information about this book, please email batbcookbook@gmail.com.
